PACIFIC/ EL PERRO DEL MAR

THE CONCRETES ON A MONDAY...

On monday evening I went to Pont Ephèmere with my friend Karin to watch the Swedish bands The Concretes and Pacific (feat Sara Assbring from El Perro Del Mar.)

I love El Perro del Mar, she is fantastic. Her voice, everything. A song I listened to the whole summer and which is so great is "Change of heart". Highly recommend it.

The concerts were great. My kind friend Per, who is playing keybord with The Concretes is always calling me before they are coming to Paris to play and he always put me on the list.
He also gave me their new album "WYWH" which is gonna be released in february. Thank u. <3
The other band Pacific did a really cool and gothic almost instrumental concert with Sara Assbring on song. They were all dressed in black reaper hoodies and Sara and the whole feeling made me think  about a wierd mix between the suffering sad princess from the movie "The never ending story" and some strange David Lynch film....

I'm listening to the Concretes new album, and the song "My ways" where she sings: "Honey if you take me back, I'll change...."

Isn't that so typical?

TRUTH NO 2

It is very scary to state that I actually know someone who exactly fits in to this description:

Characteristics of a Psychopath
  • superficial charm
  • self-centered & self-important
  • need for stimulation & prone to boredom
  • deceptive behavior & lying
  • conning & manipulative
  • little remorse or guilt
  • shallow emotional response
  • callous with a lack of empathy
  • living off others or predatory attitude
  • poor self-control
  • promiscuous sexual behavior
  • early behavioral problems
  • impulsive lifestyle
  • irresponsible behavior
  • blaming others for their actions
  • short term relationships
  • breaking parole or probation

    And the description, omg:
A psychopath is usually a subtle manipulator. They do this by playing to the emotions of others. They typically have high verbal intelligence, but they lack what is commonly referred to as "emotional intelligence". There is always a shallow quality to the emotional aspect of their stories. In particular they have difficulty describing how they felt, why they felt that way, or how others may feel and why. In many cases you almost have to explain it to them. Close friends and parents will often end up explaining to the psychopath how they feel and how others feel who have been hurt by him or her. They can do this over and over with no significant change in the person's choices and behavior. They don't understand or appreciate the impact that their behavior has on others. They do appreciate what it means when they are caught breaking rules or the law even though they seem to end up in trouble again. They desperately avoid incarceration and loss of freedom but continue to act as if they can get away with breaking the rules. They don't learn from these consequences. They seem to react with feelings and regret when they are caught. But their regret is not so much for other people as it is for the consequences that their behavior has had on them, their freedom, their resources and their so called "friends."  They can be very sad for their self. A psychopath is always in it for their self even when it seems like they are caring for and helping others. The definition of their "friends" are people who support the psychopath and protect them from the consequence of their own antisocial behavior. Shallow friendships, low emotional intelligence, using people, antisocial attitudes and  failure to learn from the repeated consequences of their choices and actions help identify the psychopath.

WHY ARE FRENCH GUYS SO STRANGE?

French guys are strange. At least when you are a Swedish girl, born and raised in Sweden. Where everything is exactly as it seems. People do exactly what they say and they are not turning out to be someone else a while after you got to know them. In Sweden "I love you" means I love you. "I'll see you on Sunday at 22pm" means I'll see the person on Sunday at 22pm and "I've changed, I'm ready to do everything for you". means, well, just that and it's not just something you say to get someone back.

From one thing to another:  It's also very hard to be friend with a french guy. To meet up, have a drink, take a coffe, etc doesn't have to meen anything to me. Just that I'm curious about the person and want a new nice friend to hang out with. Ofcourse sometimes it means I'm interested in them but then they will find out quite soon I can promise you. :)
For french guys it means in 98% of the cases that it is a "date" and that I am interested in them. While in Sweden you often take "fikas" with guyfriends, hanging out in their apartments, going out on partys together, sleeping over in their place, having dinner and breakfasts, etc, without that it means anything more than just a great friendship. That's what I call real friendship. I have many guy friends like that in Stockholm.
I stay in their place when I'm there visiting, I'm hanging out in their livingroom eating chips with no makeup dressed in one of their T-shirts talking about everything from  the latest record releases and cool new bands to their or mine problems with the opposite sex, giving eachother advices. Before I go out in the evening fixing myself, I walk in and out from my bedroom with different shoes and outfits and my guy friends sais what they think looks the best in term of dress, shoes, makeup and hair.
Don't know if that would work with a french guy though, even if I wish.
French guys I hardly know who adds me on facebook can after a while start to talk to me very intimately online like "sweet kisses" and that kind of things and I am almost embarrassed cause I don't know what to think. Are they trying to hit on me? Are they joking? Or is it just the way they are talking to everyone?

Well, maybe I'm just not used to it, cause that 's a thing a swedish guy would never , ever do.
(If I didnt already kissed him and we had an ongoing story.)
What also causes me a slight nausea is the behaviour certain french guys take on when they are talking to girls is that they are talking to you as if you were a complete retard. A stupid fragile little doll who doesn't understand anything about anything -and always with a seductive undertone. God, I hate that. Then I become cold, stop smiling and answer them back as if I was on a business meeting with them, carefully choosing my words.
Why can't they treat me as an intelligent hard working woman? Cause that's what I am. Talk to me as they talk to they guy friends and ask if I heard the new cool remix of this or that band, discuss business we could do together in the future, etc.
I don't know why it is like this. Back home, at least in the group I hang out with there are no real difference between guys and girls. I can sit on a guydinner together with a tight group of guys drinking vodka shots and they treat me exactly as one of them, as a guy in the group. That's what's normal to me and I feel quite insecure when I am around french guys and the guys are just talking to each other about important, interesting stuff and is turning to me just to talk to me as if I almost wasn't there or in a seductive slimy way.
You have so much more to prove when you're a woman and It's sad it has to be that way.

(Ps: This is not about all the french guys I meet, but maybe 60% of them)

BEFORE THE SEXY SAILOR- LACOSTE 75' ANNIV WITH KARIN

THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR...

I love all my friends very much. They are intelligent, hard working, funny, cool, creative and fantastic people. Some of them lives in Stockholm, some in London, some in Tel Aviv, some in Antwerpen, some in Paris, actually they are spread all over the world.
I would like to write about all of them, but this time I'm gonna write about my best Swedish girl in Paris. Karin.
Karin is a 1m77cm tall ex model from Stockholm with very blond hair, freckels and blue eyes. She has 5 tattoos (she made them in N.Y) she is quite crazy and not like anybody else I've met. Karin loves to dress up and drink wine and cook for me at her place in le marais while we prepare to go out together. We listen to music and I show her my latest dj insider cool-new-songs and we talk about boys (what else.)
We are exploading in laugh- attacks while talking about situations with guys or when Karin went with a Swedish TV team to Tunisia with a complete lunatic and so crazy and funny comedian called "Kjell Henry". I never get tired of those storys...

Karin has more of a rock style than I do, she loves a bit punky clothes, leatherjackets, boots, black stretch jeans-,N.Y style and we have almost the opposite taste in men. That's great cause then when we go out together we never fall for the same guys which is quite practical I must say. Karin likes the bohem type more with a long beard, a mustasch, a punky tee or rock style, like the musician style, the "Justice guy" style. She doesn't even bother that much if they are shorter than her.  I prefer a bit more proper dressed guys, like jeans, shirt and blazer and a bit shorter beard. For Karin it's a complete turn off if they say they work in finance, while that doesn't bother me at all...
Karin is one year younger than me and earn her living as a makeupartist.
She is super talanted and I don't get to see her as often as I would like cause she is travelling all the time, New York, Stockholm, Paris and New York again.
Often when I call her to ask her to come with me to some superfunny party I'm invited to, she says; "I would sooo love to, but I cant, waking up 7 tomorrow to catch a plane to N.Y to do Vogue L'Uomo".
(Karin gets to make up shitloads of uberhot modelguys in her work, makes me almost jealous;)

But whenever she is in town she almost never says no to a party, that's what is so good about her.
Even if she is really tired and have lots of work to do she always sais: I waaaant, but I'm afraid I can't, I have to do this and that..-but call me an hour before you leave anyway. I call her an hour before I leave and 98% of the time she has by then changed her mind and is coming with me. That's just great cause you can hardly have a better, crazier partyfriend by your side in the Parisian night.

Me and Karin has been to so many party's and afterpartys together that I can hardly remember them all...
One of the best ones that I will never forget was the Lacoste 75th anniversary party that took place summer 2008 on a huge boat with 3 decks in the middle of the Seine.  It is defenitely one of my top 5 best partys in Paris ever.
Everyone was there from Karl Lagerfeld to englands model maffia like Coco Rocha and all of those girls. It was delicious food and sweets everywhere and special hired cooks for the evening cooking the food right on the spot. Ofcoure there was as much champagne as you could and want to drink(as usual at a good party)
What made this evening so special was that on the invitation it said: "dresscode, bikini, swimsuit, sexy sailor". I actually had one of the organisers on the phone a couple of days before and she said: You have to come in swimsuit, it is absolutely necessary, otherwise you might have problems at the door...
I took this very seriously and was dressed in a minimal chocolate brown D&G bikini, a white bathrobe and a white oldschool sailorhat Karin bought for us in some second hand earlier that day. I was supertanned and skinnier than ever and wore matching red lipstick and red nail polish. I couldn't talk Karin in to wearing a bikini so she wore a minimal pair of jeans shorts, a white schoolgirl blouse tied at the waist, a multicolor mask and the same white sailorhat as I did. You could say we looked pretty hot without exaggeration;)
Like that we walked out in the street to catch a cab, people were staring as if they'd never seen a woman before, but we were just laughing and kept on walking.
When we arrived at the party it was already full of people and we realized that we were among the few (maybe 10%) that had taken the dresscode so seriously...That made it even more fun and we went up on the middle deck where we met up with the London party maffia which was already in swimsuits in the pools.
Everyone was hanging out in the inflatable pools drinking champagne eating hot dogs or cotton candy or pomme d'amour's and every other food you can think of and there were several bands playing during the night. (Now I can ofcourse not remember one single of them, but one of the groups became enormously famous not long after.)
This night finished very very late and wet at le Baron I remember. It was a very interesting night which contained everything from Karin who hichhiked with a truck all the way to le Baron with one of the London guys (also dressed as a sailor) to a swim in the seine...
We had so much damn fun that night half of it would have been enough and I know that as long as I know Karin we will continue to have this much fun for a long time ahead...
